The approach

A render sells the idea. A drawing set is what the electrician actually installs. I do both, so nothing is lost between them.

Most lighting work arrives as either a pretty visualization with no dimensions, or a layout with no sense of atmosphere. I work the two together: the scene is developed in 3D, then coordinated onto plan with positions, circuits, fixture types and quantities — so what the client approved is what gets built and priced.

Lighting language

Four layers, one room.

Every space is built from the same four layers. Balancing them is the whole job — too much of any one and the room reads flat, harsh or theatrical.

Ambient

The base level. Concealed coves and wide-beam downlights fill the room evenly so nothing falls into shadow, and everything else is layered on top of it.

    Residential villa

    Interior + exterior

    A full house treated as one continuous language: concealed architectural light in the ceilings and joinery, accent on walls and planting, decorative pieces used sparingly as focal points. Every room was studied in 3D before the layout was drawn.

    Hospitality

    Comfort at room scale, intimacy at table scale. Ambient light sets the overall level while pendants and low-level sources pull the eye down to the table, so the room stays social without feeling lit like an office.

    Functional

    A performance brief. Uniform, glare-controlled light across the floor so mirrors and free weights stay safe to use, held together by architectural lines in the ceiling that keep the space feeling energetic rather than clinical.

    Exterior

    Facade emphasis, pathway guidance and planting all composed as a single night-time picture, judged from the approach and from the upper windows rather than fixture by fixture.

    Bathrooms, kitchens, corridors, salons. The same discipline applied at the scale where people actually notice light.

    The part that gets it built.

    Behind every visual there is a drawing set and a schedule. This is what the contractor receives.

    Visualize

    The lighting language is explored in 3D until the atmosphere is agreed. Decisions get made on a picture, not a description.

    Coordinate

    The approved scene is translated onto plan and reconciled with the ceiling, joinery and structure.

    Specify

    Fixture type, wattage, CCT and quantity are fixed per zone and written into a schedule that can be priced.

    Present

    Drawings, schedule and renders are issued as one package the client, contractor and supplier all read from.
